Reading

August 20, 2008

We got home today around 11:30-12, so we stopped at Saltgrass Steakhouse for lunch. It was good food and although we had loads of fun, its nice to be home. School starts back up tomorrow and I have an 8:30am class. I’m looking forward to finishing up my degree… it has taken me way to long. But then again, I got married and had a baby in the middle of it lol.

Anyway, I wanted to comment on the audiobook we rented at Cracker Barrell on the way home. I was a little worried that it was going to be too girly, but when Jamie said it kinda sounded good/okay I snatched it up and rented it lol. We rented Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. When it started I was also a little worried it would be kind of hard to follow since the author and reader had British accents, but instead it was very easy to listen to and had a farely good plot. Here is how the author’s website describes it;

When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.

Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.

Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

I enjoy reading (and/or listening to audiobooks), but I just dont know who or what to read. I joined a reading site called Good Reads… does anyone want to add me as their friend? and/or leave me comments to give me recommendations as to what to read?

Animal Kingdom & Epcot

August 18, 2008

Today was our last day at Disney.

We went to Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Thomas & Meyer were at school today so it was just us and Shelley at first. We went to Animal Kingdom, where Shelley and I rode Expedition Everest, while Jamie took Taylor to Dinoland where he won her a stuffed turtle playing basketball. We met back up with them just in time to ride a dinosaur ride similar to Dumbo and Aladdin Carpets. Then two at a time (because Taylor was too short) we rode Primeval Whirl, which was very rough jerky and carnival like. Then we caught another parade (of course!) and Shelley left to go pick up Thomas & Meyer. Taylor, Jamie and I went on a Safari to see some animals.

There really wasnt much left to do at Animal Kingdom so we took a bus over to Epcot, where we met up with Thomas, Meyer, and Shelley. We went immediately over to the Test Track and took turns riding this; poor Taylor was too short for almost all the rides at Epcot. It was sad, she kept saying “I’m big. I’m big enough. Please I’m big. I’m big enough.” My poor baby. Almost all of Epcot was closed early so we didnt get to do alot here. But we did go to Finding Nemo and rode it. Then we went to ride Soarin’, which Taylor was again 4 inches too short to ride so we had to take turns riding that. It was awesome, though, and I think Taylor would have been JUST fine on this ride. While we were waiting for Thomas, Shelley, and Jamie to ride Soarin’, I took Meyer and Taylor over to the Finding Nemo ride again and let them ride that. But then it closed and so did all the other things there (they had fish tanks and a little playarea like a ship wreck, but it was all roped off). I had to just sit in the lobby of the Soarin’ area (I wasnt allowed to go down by the exit, stupid) and wait. With two little ones. It was hard and they were both hungry and bored. Once they got done we went to a gift shop and bought all our souveniers.

We leave tomorrow for home. What a great trip!

Dress Up

August 16, 2008

Taylor found a chest of winter clothes and kept playing dress up in them. I thought she looked cute. We did not go to Disney today. Instead we are having a little party for Taylor’s birthday tonight.

Hollywood Studios

August 15, 2008

I forgot my camera yesterday, but Shelley’s friend and Shelley both took pictures for me. I’ll post them when I get them. We didnt go all day but we went to Hollywood Studios for awhile. After a couple hours at the park we went to play Volleyball with Shelley’s friends.

Today we went back to Hollywood Studios. We got there around lunch time, so we went straight for Planet Pizza. We rode so many rides that I’m getting today and yesterday mixed up as to which ones we rode when. We rode the great movie ride, Narnia (which really wasnt a ride at all), watched Muppets 3D, Little Mermaid, and Playhouse Disney (where we also got to meet Annie & Leo from Little Einsteins). Shelley and I also rode the Rock’n Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror while the kids were taking a nap. Jamie was nice enough to let us ride while he watched the sleeping kids. When the kids woke up we rode Toy Story again today (which is probably my favorite ride). You are in a little cart and you play bunch of arcade games. Everyone loved this ride so we rode it several times lol.

Then we left and went back to Magic Kingdom. We caught the beginning of another parade lol but we had much better seats this time. I got alot of better pictures for this parade. We rode a Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and then headed of for Mickey’s Toontown Fair. Here we saw Mickey & Minnie’s houses and rode a mini rollercoaster for the kids. Taylor did great on it. We then let the kids play in the play area before leaving to go home. We are all so tired today and the kids fell asleep in the car - Taylor even fell asleep before getting to the car lol.

Disney World

August 13, 2008

Today was our first day at Disney World.

We went to Magic Kingdom and as soon as we made it over to the park through the ferry, we caught the start of a parade. The kids loved it. Then we headed for the merry-go-round and I took a cute picture of Taylor riding a horse. It was super hot outside so we immediately had to get drinks after that. Then as we were waiting in line for “Its a Small World” another family with a special needs child told us that we could get a pass for Thomas (who has Down Syndrome) so that we could basically fast pass all rides and/or use the handicap entrance. After “Its a Small Wolrd” we went to get one of these at City Hall and it was amazing!! We had to wait only minutes for every single ride that we went on, it was great!

After we got the pass, we met up with a friend of Shelley’s from New York that happened to be at the same park as us and we hung out with her and her daughter. We rode Buzz Lightyear (a few times), Race Cars, Teacups, Dumbo, Carousel of Progress, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and Pirates of the Caribbean. During the middle of those we did stop to eat at a cafe. I was a little worried it was going to cost alot of money to eat at the park, but it really wasnt much more expensive as fast food (we got a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for about $7).

We had alot of fun today and cant wait to go back tomorrow!
